Pres. Obama, admired by twice as many Republicans as Glenn Beck

You’ll never convince the echo-chamber-dwelling dullards of the far right that they’re anything less than the voice of the “silent majority” in America. Conservatives aren’t known for easily digesting facts that contradict their constipated view of life (sorry for the gastrointestinal metaphors, but the Rush/Fox neanderthals make me sick to my guts — ba-da-bing). Surely, though, a few of them can still discern reality when it’s staring them in the face, so here’s something our good friends on the right may want to ponder. There’s a revealing new Gallup poll, published in USA Today, in which Americans were asked what man and woman they admire most. The winners? Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Obama was picked by 30 percent of the respondents, with George W. Bush coming in a distant second at 4 percent. Hillary was picked as most admired woman by 16 percent, with the right’s favorite LensCrafter model, Sarah Palin, coming in a close second with 15 percent. You can read all the results here, but we found two other results very interesting: 1. Glenn Beck finished in the top 5, with 2 percent, ranked between  Nelson Mandela and the Pope; and 2. Obama was picked by 7 percent of Republicans, while 3 percent of them picked Beck. Damn. I knew the GOP was in disarray and going through internal wars, but that’s kind of nuts. At any rate, when you hear your favorite far-right acquaintance carrying on about the huge conservative tide that’s ready to sweep over the country in the next election, give them a gentle reminder of the Gallup poll results. And now, let’s scroll down and see what our local right wing leeches think about it.

  1. 70% did not admire Obama the most and 84% did not admire H. Clinton the most, and even worse for war criminal W. Bush and welfare-queen S. Palin.

That tells me most folks probably dislike professional liars & tax feeders like the above mentioned.

I guess that spin doesnt work so well, haha

  2. Interesting piece, Grooms. Amusing points, Luke. Frank, you talk and squawk like a Republican (today alone you praised Bush and Myrick, though usually it’s Palin and Cheney) so quit calling yourself a Libertarian. True Libertarians are mortified when you do that.

    Grooms 1 Luke 1 Frank 0

  3. Its amazing that A woman who has spent her whole life fighting for human rights, meeting dignitaries and world leaders, passing legislation, reaching out to the middle class, women, disabled and those without healthcare gets 1 point more than “you betcha” Palin. The real story here is not that Obama and Clinton got the top votes(They should have due to their positions). The real story is how reasonable and rational Americans can give wolf hunting, Russia in my backyard, death panels everywhere, look at my family but dont talk about them, blah blah blah I say nothing when I speak, quit the governor’s job to go on a book tour palin 1 point less than the articulate secretary of state who actually has earned her place in history.

  4. I think Frank is more of a conservative, not exactly a libertarian…i’m a libertarian, mostly anarcho-libertarian these days similar to what Murray Rothbard was. Alot of conservatives call themselves libertarians (Palin, Beck, etc. ) when they’re not. Maybe they should call themselves small “l” libertarians.

I used to be a conservative and still have a few conservative leanings. I don’t identify with most of the conservative ideology these days. I’m vehemently anti-state & anti-war, pro honest money, pro gun rights, so The Old Right, Classical liberalism is probably mostly identified with the libertarians these days and that’s where I fit in.

  5. Actually I should call Palin a “former” welfare queen. She’s now a private entrepreneur and a producer instead of feeder. Unfortunately she still promotes welfare / warfare statism.

  6. My fellow readers, I think in 2010 we should all resolve to turn the other cheek instead of bashing Frank Griffin no matter how hateful he turns towards everyone else. I noticed that in the last few hours on New Years Eve when the rest of us were spending time with family and friends, Frank was spending his time writing several posts on this blog. This tells me that while the rest of us were with loved ones he was all alone and bitter, friendless and with a family that doesn’t want him around. Such a man should be pitied, not hated. Let’s do our best to tolerate him in the new year. Peace and God bless.

  7. Thats an intersting idea yea got there Clyde. Usually ideas like this come from the very people that are suffering so. Do not try too hard to imagine that everyone must be suffering the way you are Clyde.

Clyde has been offended emotionally so he strikes back the only way he knows how. Maybe Cylde should quit feeling sorry for himself and instead educate himself and then respond in an intelligent way, instead of this silly emotional way to serious topics.

Many of you should be thankful a teacher is willing to take a few minutes out of his day to correct the insanity that is called the left.

  8. This poll only shows the brilliant job mass media does in keeping citizens ignorant as hell about what’s going on. If people knew the real 411, none of these crooks, crocks, and plain old assholes would make anyone’s most admired list.

Again, Mr. Grooms wastes space taking jabs at the right wing when he’d better serve his audience calling out Obama, Hillary, and the rest of their gang for the treasons toward and betrayal of their Democratic constituencies. We know what the right wing is up to; shine a light on left wing evildoings too – it’s the only way to pressure these politicians to do anything to help someone other than their corporate brethren.

  9. I stand by my statement. I personally don’t think Christianity is stupid, and neither was his gesture.
