- The Occupiers have a cordial relationship with CMPD
As promised in an earlier post, CL continues to bring you voices from the occupation of Charlotte — individual participants, in their own words, talking about why they joined the local Occupy movement.
On the first night of the occupation, Oct. 8, we caught up with Dom and Jacob, both from Rock Hill. They helped us understand what it means to be part of the 99 percent.
We asked them the same three questions we’ve asked others in our “in their own words” series: Who are you? Where are you from? Why are you here?
Dom said, “I’m in Occupy Charlotte to support the cause and the movement of getting people’s voices heard.”
And Jacob explained that the one percent “control the majority of the things that happen in the country, which is messed up because it’s one percent compared to 99 percent — and this is supposed to be a Democracy. So, I’m here to help fight for the Democracy that everybody else deserves.”
Listen to Dom and Jacob, in their own words:

My sense of the overall movement is that they realize that business, banking and capitalism is a necessary cog of a much bigger machine in our societal framework. What’s gone wrong is the mistaken assertion that it’s the only part that matters. Godspeed occupiers.
if u ever get a chance to listen to any of these “occupiers” here or in NY or elsewhere, do it..its HILARIOUS…90% of these folks are here just to hang out and party and avoid working, with the hope that some of these political groups will give them some pay for sitting around..and they all co-op the same mantra that ” 1% control 99% of the country”, “greed is bad”, “capitalism needs to be fixed”, etc…but getting them to explain what this actually means, or getting them to offer ideas as to how to fix the problems, is worth it weight in gold humor-wise….
Hello,
We are the ones who control your lives. We make the decisions that affect all of you. Isn’t it interesting to know that those who run your lives would have the nerve to tell you about it in this manner? Suffer you fools, we know everything you do, and we know where you go. What do you think the cameras are for? and the global positioning satellites? and the social security numbers? you belong to us. And it can’t be changed.
Sign your petitions, walk your picket lines, bring your lawsuits, cast your votes, and write those stupid letters to whom ever you please. You won’t change a thing. Because we control your lives, and we have plans for you. Go back to sleep.

They will freeze come winter unless they return to their homes and turn on the heat…heat supplied by big oil, big coal, nuclear power or big dams. Unless they want to burn wood and polute the air with smoke and CO2 gases.
No imagination there. These people barely know what they are there for. They just memorize a few things they have heard and read and spew it back out. The fact that so many of these “occupiers” are young and intoxicated just goes to show you that they haven’t really experience life as an adult. They probably go to college with their federal loans and learn all about progressive thinking without actually being in touch with reality. It’s almost as insane as having a president that has never had an actual job. Oh wait….
