Charlotte residents upset by the passage of Proposition 8 are joining protests across the country Saturday.
Folks are planning to meet tonight at The Lesbian & Gay Community Center to plan the protest, scheduled Saturday from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. outside the Government Center at 600 East 4th Street.
Proposition 8 is a recently passed ballot proposal to amend the California Constitution to recognize only marriage between a man and a woman, thereby overturning a recent state Supreme Court decision.

The g/l anger regarding Prop 8 is certainly understandable and reasonable. What is not reasonable is their focus on the Mormon Church. The frustration should be focused on the State. This is a constitutional issue not a voting issue. The Church has the same rights as everyone else in this country. Note – I am not Mormon. I simply ask that individual rights be respected. I dont concur with their beliefs but they are entitled to their beliefs just as the g/l communities are entitled to theirs. Please read my blog concerning this issue:
