The bond hearing for Antoine Young, accused of the murder of Chris Radok, was canceled yesterday, as the case is headed to the Grand Jury. That’s what Assistant District Attorney Gabrielle Macon told a group of Radok supporters who had shown up for the scheduled bond hearing. Ms. Macon then told the group that the next hearing in the case will be a Rule 24 Hearing, possibly as early as Feb. 10. A Rule 24 hearing is one in which the prosecution is required to say in court whether or not the state is going to seek the death penalty in a first-degree murder case. Having such a hearing isn’t an indication that the death penalty will definitely be sought in a particular case, but in the past, Macon has not hesitated to seek death for those accused of first-degree murder.

Thanks to cyclist Bill Fehr for  posting his account of yesterday’s hearing on the Radok memorial page on Facebook. Check it out – there’s a nice illustration of Radok supporters crowded around Macon to hear the news.

As some of Chris’ favorite funny guys used to say, now for something completely different. Thanks to Wendell Oliver, who went through films of the old Vision Explosion events Uptown, here’s a video of Radok singing/speaking — in a voice that combines Tom Waits with Gilbert Gotfried —  the theme song from The Beverly Hillbillies. Who said surrealism and mourning can’t go hand in hand?

Len, let me repeat what was written before under another Radok post, in case you’re slow on the draw:

“And you, dear sir, have only been censored from posting on any news items regarding Chris Radok, given your disrespectful attitude. You may feel free to post on any other stories.”
