Its Stupid Thing of the Week time (Editor’s Note: On Monday instead of last Friday). You knew that repealing “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” (DADT) was going to drive a few people over the edge, and sure enough, it didn’t take long for Rep. Duncan Hunter to flip. On Tuesday, Admiral Mike Mullen, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, called for the repeal of DADT. Some Republican senators, who usually can be counted on to bow to whatever the Pentagon says, looked as if theyd been pole-axed by their best friend. Two days later, Rep. Duncan Hunter of California, an ultra-conservative Republican, was so over the top in his criticism of Mullen, he won our Stupid Thing of the Week award.
Hunter, whose 2008 campaign for President was supported by Ann Coulter and almost no one else, told NPR that the special bond among soldiers would be broken if you open up the military to transgenders, to hermaphrodites, to gays and lesbians. The host asked Hunter, Transgenders and hermaphrodites? to which Hunter answered, Yea, that’s going to be part of this thing. It’s not just gays and lesbians, it’s this whole thing.
OK, Dunky, if you say so. Now please remain calm as I back away slowly . . .Seriously, it looks like Michele Bachman, Sue Myrick, Sarah Palin and Virginia Foxx have some new competition for the GOP Tin Foil Crown award.
This article appears in Feb 2-8, 2010.

The recent comments were made by Congressman Duncan D. Hunter, who succeeded his father, Duncan L. Hunter. The senior Hunter was a 14-term representative from California and retired in 2008.
Who gives a __________?! They are both anti-gay, right wing hatemongers. There is a nice cozy place in the flames of hellfire for both of them for their hatred of gays and lesbians!
Transgenders and Hermaphrodites are already allowed in the Military. DADT only bans Homosexuals from serving openly. Transgenders and Hermaphrodites are not Homosexuals, this guy needs to learn his crap before making himself look like an idiot.
I have never heard such sick and twisted views as this Griffin guy. I even had to go back and look at some of the other posts from him. What a shitty mess! Man, it sounds like these guys have figured you out! Now all you can do is say the craziest shit known to man just to try and enrage everybody!
Hopefully no one takes the bait from this psycho. Talk about getting cabin fever and then turning invalid!
Oh, and I just want to say……guys do like other guys checking them out! It’s a fact – even in a public shower! Guess you’d rather be steaking out a playground somewhere, or Fox News. LOL. Sick. Sick. Sick.
Don’t worry, Frank is always on the wrong side of history.
He would have argued against blacks and whites serving together in the military back in the 1940s, like most right-wingers at the time.
He would have argued against letting women have the right to vote, like most right-wingers at the time.
He would have argued against abolishing slavery, like most right-wingers at the time.
That’s the way it is when you are a born bigot with an inbred resentment of those not exactly like you.
Fortunately, right-wing bigots have been defeated time and again in the history of this country. Eventually, they always lose. And they will lose this battle, too.
“Dummy”? Wow, this guy is actually a child! For what it’s worth, everything you post on here is the craziest shit known to man! No wonder you sit online day and night talking such foolish mess. You can’t show your face anywhere because someone might recognize you and beat you. Or maybe it’s just because you are a social misfit and a miserable piece of nothing.
Frank,
You know nothing of history.
Notice I never said “Democrats” or “Republicans” in my post. I said “right wingers.” If you had even one clue about U.S. history, you would understand that Southern Democrats used to be the RIGHT WINGERS, just like you are today.
When LBJ passed Civil Rights legislation, the Southern Democrats and other right-wingers BOLTED TO THE REPUBLICAN PARTY as fast as they could (see Strom Thurmond, Jesse Helms, et.al.).
Those Southern Dems were right wingers during the civil rights era, just as they were during slavery days.
The left wing, the liberals, were the Quakers who opposed slavery and the civil rights workers who marched in the South during the 1960s and the suffrage supporters who advocated the right to vote for women.
You, Frank, are a right winger. You would have stood side by side with Strom Thurmond as a conservative, Jim Crow Democrat who switched to the GOP when the Democratic party moved to the left and started advocating equal rights for minorities.
Please, Frank, concentrate.
Oy vey, every time I think this Frank Griffin can’t possibly get any dumber he goes and tops himself.
“Left wing” bigots, Frank? They were the ones who were against civil rights for women and blacks?
You mean bigots like the liberals who passed civil rights legislation in 1964 and stood with Martin Luther King when it was signed into law? Like the liberals who risked — and in many cases, lost — their lives helping to organize marches in the South?
You mean bigots like Rep. Martha Griffiths of Michigan, a liberal Democrat who successfully pushed an equal rights bill through the House in 1971, a bill that she and others hoped to turn into an amendment, a bill that was later opposed Phyllis Schlafly and other conservative Republicans?
The left has always championed the causes of minorities, women, the poor. Political party has nothing to do with it.
The right has always opposed those causes. Again, political party has nothing to do with it.
I know this is difficult for you to grasp, Frank, but there’s a reason the left wing — some of whom are Dems, some of whom are Green Party members, some of whom are Independents or other –is much more ethnically diverse than the right wing, which is almost exclusively in the GOP.
The reason is because people of color know the right wing doesn’t care about them. Take a look at the next GOP convention or Tea Party rally. Tell me how many people of color you see there.
Think about it, Frank. Put all 38 of your brain cells to work on it. Wait for it, wait for it….
LOL, Frank gets his ass hammered again! LMFAO!
LMFAO, Frank gets his ass hammered again!
Again, Frank, you continue to set new standards of ignorance.
Did you somehow miss the message: Those racist Democrats switched parties as soon as the national Democratic Party embraced civil rights.
Those former Democrats are now at the heart of your Grand Old Lily White Party. Fundamentalist, socially conservative, Southern and rural whites: that is your base.
If you had even an ounce of familiarity with U.S. history, you would know that there once were two distinct halves of the Democratic party: the left-leaning National Democrat Party, and the right-leaning Southern Democrat, or Dixiecrat, party.
The Dixicrats opposed integrating the military. They opposed the Civil Rights Amendment. They were joined by a large percentage of Republicans in opposition. Check your history.
The National Democratic Party supported civil rights and women’s rights.
That’s why the Dixiecrats left and joined what is now the modern Republican Party.
That’s not spin. It’s fact. Your beloved Republican Party is overwhelmingly white and Christian.
There’s a reason the vast majority of people of color do not belong to the Republican Party. Perhaps that reason flies over your head in your never-ending quest to live in a fantasy world.
In any event, you’re wrong, I’m right, good day.
PI-YOW! Frankie Bee-yotch gets another ass whoopin’! LMFAO!!!!
Frank, the reason people make personal attacks on you is that you’re an asshole. It really has nothing to do with your opinions, which are merely shallow and predictable.
As a bloviator, you are simply worthless.
As a human being, you are annoying, juvenile and impossible to like. Perhaps this is why you have a mail-order bride and no friends.
You’re welcome for clearing that up!
Lenny, well put. Frank obviously does not understand the dynamics of the North/South split, which continues today.
93% of Southern Democrats opposed the original House version of the Civil Rights Bill.
94% of Northern Democrats supported it, so overall, Dems approved it.
100% of Southern Republicans opposed the original House bill. 85% of Northern Republicans supported it, so overall, Republicans supported.
Look at those numbers again:
Northern Democrats were far and away the most supportive: 94% vs. 85% of Northern Republicans.
98% of Northern Democrat Senators supported it vs. 84% of Northern Senators. The GOP’s Presidential candidate that year, Barry Goldwater, opposed it.
In total, only 6% of Southern Democrats and Republicans supported it. Zero percent of Southern Republicans supported it.
Most of those Southern Democrats eventually switched parties and are now Republicans. As you said, they now dominate the Republican Party.
And as you said, this all flies over Frank’s head.
