Sam Boykin was a news reporter with Creative Loafing for seven years until he started writing freelance full-time in 2005. He developed his love of movies from his father, who took him to a drive-in theater to see one of his first movies — The Exorcist — which explains a lot about his cinematic tastes. Although he still yearns to be a professional tennis player, Sam pays the bills by writing for a variety of publications, including Reader’s Digest, Scientific American, National Geographic Adventure and Maxim.
