I stayed up late to see Cornell West on The Colbert Report. I don’t usually watch that show, but I like West and wanted to see how he interacted with Colbert, a comedian who lampoons cable pundits nightly on Comedy Central.

While I enjoyed West’s interview, it was Colbert’s skewering of Sarah Palin’s media persona — as well as the the dismantling his cohort, Jon Stewart, did on The Daily Show — that kept me glued to the screen.

Well done, gentlemen. Thanks for reminding us all that this lady — who wasn’t elected to be our vice president, who quit on her state, who has her own reality TV show, who gets more media coverage than anyone else who’s ever lost the bid for national office — is the mainstream media.

  1. Yea big men piling on a good person. These arrogant jerks should have their rear ends kicked. I cannot respect or watch cruel, mean lying twits make a living with their wacky liberalism and hate.

  2. For some reason Sarah Palin should not get called out for talking out of both sides of her mouth. Especially when it is well documented. Very interesting. Maybe it wasn’t her saying those things on video tape. Yeah Jon Stewart should be whipped for calling her out and it was unfair even if true. Sounds like a resonable Palin argument.

  3. Willege, How is pointing out her hypocrisy cruel? Did you watch the clips? Did Stewart take anything she said out of context?
Did he actually do anything that could be considered mean?

Nothing he said in that clip was unfair or untrue. Its amazing that you could dismiss such reasonable arguments.

Palin and Beck have both spouted more hate in the last month than Stewart has done throughout his entire career.

  4. The problem with Sarah Palin fans have pretty much the same problem Palin herself has. They’re oblivious.

  5. Don’t waste your breath, it is as if the Palin fans refuse to hear or even bother to see what is going on in the real world. They all watch Fox news and forget reality. It is as if they have all put on their purple Nike’s or drunk Jim Jones’ Kool aid with no thoughts of their own. It’s us aganist evryone else mentality that has gottens us where we are today. A divided country.

  6. The real travesty here is that these Palin drones votes are worth the exact same amount as the educated and well informed among us.

Maybe they should start putting a little quiz at the top of ballots, nothing crazy – just a quick check to see if someone has any real grasp on reality.

    Stuff like:

    The Earth is:
    A) Flat B) Round C) Square

    Dinosaurs are:
    A) Real B) In Harry Potter C) Liberal Propaganda

Boom, no more Teabagger conservitards in Congress.

  7. Jon Stewart’s brother is Chief Operating Officer of the New York Stock Exchange. Anyone who thinks Jon Stewart is a “friend of the little guy” is a fool.

  8. @Len
So because Jon’s brother is a COO of the stock exchange(which by your standards probably automatically makes him a crook), it somehow affects Stewart’s credibility and trustworthiness?
    Great logic bro.

By the way, I bet Jon makes at least 100x more money than his brother.

And just in case you didn’t know, Palin is also a millionaire.

  9. @Len
Do you know if Jon’s brother is corrupt or are you just assuming? Besides, judging someone by their brother’s career is a bit ridiculous and not a valid argument against a person. As for Jon he fully admits he’s rich and isn’t afraid to pay his share of taxes on it. I got no beef with that.

    @willegge
Nothing Mika and Steven’s said was a lie just their (well founded I might add) opinion of Sarah’s actions and neither of them even hinted at violence, metaphoric or otherwise, at her. That’s much more than anyone can truthfully say about almost anyone of Sarah’s speeches. As for Jon he just pointed out the obvious discrepancies in Sarah’s current response. If she doesn’t want them pointed out maybe she should stop making them.

  10. I would start using Jon’s new words right now unfortunately the word “palindrome” already has a meaning–a word or any sequence the is the same read forward as it is read backward–and the “Anchorage Steamer” just includes too many innocent people in the geographic location. Although, it could be justified as the majority of those people probably voted her into office at one time, but for the sake of the rest of them I just cant use it. And besides not wanting to degrade caribou enough to associate them with Palin the last phrase is just too long to stick and CBS is already a news network. Sarah already has Faux she doesn’t need another one of those associated with her name.
Sigh…I guess I’ll just have to stick with “palinism” until something better comes along. If anyone’s got any other ideas let me know.
