A new poll by Research 2000 reveals, as if we had to be reminded, just how wacked out Republicans are becoming during these days of their political exile. Last week, Texas governor Rick Perry mentioned the possibility of secession from the union as a response to what he and fellow teabaggers believe is Obama’s “socialist” policies. Amazingly enough, or maybe not so amazingly considering the nervous breakdown the GOP has been suffering lately, the new poll by Research 2000 shows that half of Texas Republicans think their state would be better off seceding from the United States than staying in the union. The poll showed that the Texas GOP was split, 48-48 percent, while 51 percent of them approved of Gov. Perry’s statements. Among Democrats the pro-secessionists stood at 15 percent, while Independents were split 55-40 in favor of remaining part of America. In other words, many of the “super-patriotic” Republicans in Texas would prefer to be a sovereign nation, while the supposedly “unpatriotic” Democrats overwhelmingly support being part of the United States. No one is suggesting Texas will secede (especially those who’ve read their history and know where such a notion got them the last time), but the degree of alienation and plain craziness revealed by this new poll says more than we probably wanted to know about the home of George W. Bush and Tom DeLay.

John Grooms needs his head screwed on straight. Though succession may not be the answer it does however send a loud signal to Washington. I applaud a governor that notes the beginning of socialism and is willing to fight it. The sad part is that thousands to millions of WORKING people attend tea parties, Texas prepares for succession and the only network coverage is on Fox television. As we become a country who allows Oprah to swing our vote we come one step closer to the same socialistic policies that caused the failure and eventual separation of the USSR.
It wasn’t a grassroots event, it was a sponsored event and Fixed News was one of the main sponsors. Most of the people involved didn’t seem to realize their taxes were just slashed. They’re protesting for “The Man” and completely clueless.
News is covered for free, sponsored events pay for ads.
Tea Bagger– no populist, real sponsors:

WRONG most actually are having their taxes raised. It is just not being called a tax increase. Raising energy prices will hit the rich and poor alike and will outstip the pathetic 13 additional dollars in your check each week.
The massive spending being done will also increase our taxes in the next year or two. Enjoy the false feeling of hope while it lasts.
You are the one who is clueless sir.
America was created when the 13 colonies seceeded from Great Britain. It was not the American Revolution since that would have required invading England and removing King George from the throne.
Secession is a political divorce based on Constitutional grounds. Secession gave America its life.
Is that UN-AMERICAN?
Well Texas is sending a message to Barracks un patriotic ways. Eithier abide by the constitution or else we are tired of congress making our decisions. California and iowa vote for no same sex marriage and the courts overturn. How is that patriotic what happened to the peoples vote????????
