Did you watch the president’s speech last night? If you did, you probably noticed he had a brief encounter with a heckler. Who was it? No, not a protester.
The president was heckled by Rep. Joe Wilson, a Republican from South Carolina. In obvious disagreement with President Obama’s statement about how health care reform will affect undocumented immigrants, the Associated Press reports that Wilson yelled, “You lie!” while stabbing the air with his finger.
Rude? Yes. Classless? Yep. Was he wrong? Dead wrong.
While undocumented immigrants will be able to buy private health insurance, under the House bill, it won’t be provided for them at taxpayers’ expense.
*shrug* Guess Wilson didn’t read the bill.
The First Amendment never said you had to be classy or in-the-know to speak your mind. And, if you look back in history, the floor of the Congress isn’t like an old-fashioned library — it’s historically a rowdy place. (Although, he did violate his own party’s rules of decorum.)
Sure, it’s a bit embarrassing for South Carolina residents who aren’t on the same side of the political fence as Wilson. (As an Alablamastan native, I know that feeling you get as you wince when your elected officials make the news for being a dumb ass all too well.)
But, it’s his right to speak up. It’s his right to put his ignorance on display. Bully for him for being brave enough to stand his ground.
Of course, now that millions of people are bombarding his Web site and office phone line with the facts, maybe he’ll read the bill he’s so opposed to before he makes a decision that could impact everyone in the country.
Let’s hope. Even dumb asses can learn new tricks every once and a while.
In other, more important news, did you notice how the Republican side of the house was acting like snotty children, determined not to participate?
What in the hell are they in Washington for if they’re not going to work to make our country a better place? Get over yourself, Party of No. You lost the election. Now it’s time to get to work. Got a better idea? Spill it.

Here’s how it went down:

Joe Wilson from South Carolina, is just another good old boy where in the morning these married men preach to you that there should be prayer in our schools and in the evening they are on their cell phones setting up a date with their other women on the side, hypocrisy has been bred in. I am not surprised that he felt compel to yell like he was at some Friday night game. He is a hater not a debater like most of his side of the isle.
Notice Wilson cared nothing about the forced wealth transfer in Obama’s plan as well as the trillions already transferrred in the Bush bailouts he voted for and the medicare drug benefit he also voted for.
His main concern was only whether illegal aliens would be getting the same welfare benefits. How stupid is that?
Remember when Republicans used to have principles and be totally against welfare no matter who got it?
Thats called phoney hypocritical outrage.
They’re just a bunch of thieves fighting over who gets the stolen loot while ignoring the fact that it’s STOLEN!!!
If Obama were white on the outside then Wilson would never have had the audacity to do such a disrespectful thing. It’s no secret that white racists have no respect for blacks regardless of power, prestige or income. In fact they are jealous of that since their lives are empty and void of all meaning. They project their insecurities and Oedipal complex crap onto blacks only to find themselves right back where they started except with even more hate.
South Carolina has a long list of dignitaries that includes Lauren Caitlin Upton (Miss Teen USA 2007 pageant contestant), Governor (and avid Appalachian hiker), Mark Sanford and now Joe the hater not a debater Wilson or the screamer not the dreamer as others have dubbed him. I did enjoy him cut and running through his apology, which only goes to show that he stands for nothing. So long Joey, you too will be seeing the unemployment lines.
Some call Joe Wilson a great statesman, and are even proud of his Shout Out, so lets see, he says, he was told by the Republican leadership to apologize (he did not realize the magnitude of his mistake), he then gives his weak not for reals apology, but then goes on to those Commentator Talk Shows and basically says he real was not wrong and plays the victim card and calls for people to send in for money to support him for re-election. Had he kept quiet after his apology, that might have been the end of it but now that people know he lied about the apology the story will continue, until he is out of a job and the funny thing is, he does not see it coming. This summer has been rough for his beleaguered political party. At least he did not end up on the Republican 2009 Summer of Love list: Assemblyman, Michael D. Duvall (CA), Senator John Ensign (NV), Senator Paul Stanley (TN), Governor Mark Stanford (SC), Board of Ed Chair, and Kristin Maguire AKA Bridget Keeney (SC). In my opinion the Republican Party has been taken over the most extreme religious right (people who love to push their beliefs on others while trying to take away the rights of those they just hate) and thats who they need to extract from their party if they real want to win. Good Luck, because as they said in WACO, We Aint Coming Out. The birthers, the teabaggers, the screamers, and the deathers continued extreme minority presence will become tiresome to mainstream America, if it has not already done so.
