I used to be a fan of football. I loved watching men in tight pants knocking the shit out of each other.
That was until this story about Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger started gaining more yards than Emmitt Smith in his prime. I’m throwing a flag on the NFL. It took two accusations of sexual assault for the all-mighty commissioner Roger Goodell to request a sit down with Roethlisberger. He wasn’t slow to move in the case of dog fighting when it came to Philly QB Michael Vick.
The manager of the club where Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is accused of having sexually assaulted a 20-year-old Georgia woman said Thursday one of the woman’s friends told him a member of Roethlisberger’s entourage had denied her entrance to the area leading to the bathroom where she believed the accuser and Roethlisberger were that night.The accuser told police later that night Roethlisberger had assaulted her in the club’s bathroom.
So, this is all right? Big football players can sexually assault women and expect no discipline from the NFL? Just don’t fuck a woman against her will at a dog fight?
When Vick was accused of dog fighting, his punishment was swift. And we’re talking dogs. Does the NFL mean to tell me that the league has more of a value on the life of a dog than a woman’s right not to be sexually assaulted? And this isn’t Roethlisberger’s first trip down this road.

before he has even gone to trial. The district attorney in Lake Tahoe found no merit to the case. And who care what is printed on his shirt! Does that mean he is a rapist. Get real!
It certainly is true that rape is a much more serious matter than dog fighting. However, he was only accused of rape. If he had been convicted, and no action was taken, that would be outrageous.
the term “assault” can mean thousand of things, legally. If a guy taps a gal on the behind in a bar, she can accuse him of sexual assault. If a guy and a gal are making out (as was probably happening here in the bathroom) and the guy does a paw of her breast, she can accuse him of sexual assault. Maybe he thought she wanted to try for 3rd base and he dropped his pants. After all, she brought him into the Ladies Room with her, so it’s not shocking that a guy would think the girl wanted to make out. I don’t think we should send a guy in this predicament to PRISON because he thought she wanted 2nd or 3rd base when she really only had 1st or 2nd base in mind. Guys are not mind readers. Inexperienced 20-year olds can over-react. Maybe this was her first time having a guy reach for his zipper (or her zipper). This is not PRISON material.

Last I checked there is a media storm surrounding this with pundits on all sides of the issue…there is a legal investigation going on…he has been accused but not charged, but if there is evidence to support the accusations he will be charged and punished. Vick was punished until evidence was found, and once they looked it was plentiful. There is no way Big Ben is 100% innocent, but neither is his accuser. Both of them are idiots and are known for stupid behaviour. This blog is a waste of space.

I’m not sure that prison is appropriate, but something to teach him not to ever do it again. Maybe a $1,000 penalty and probation, or maybe a firm bite on the tip with sharp teeth. There’s no end to how many things in this article annoy me:
1) “When there’s smoking panties…”
Somebody filing a complaint isn’t “smoking panties.” If I called the cops and said I was missing $50 and accused you of stealing it, is that a “smoking wallet?”
2) Your apparent gripe is that it took two ACCUSATIONS (not convictions, let us recall, but ACCUSATIONS) for the Commish to talk with Ben.
Let us not forget, that before the gambling ring charges came up, Mr. Vick had already been accused of:
a) being in the immediate company of two friends that took a security screeners’ watch at the airport in ’04, b)transferring herpes to woman without informed consent, c) trying to smuggle marijuana through airport security
I’m not saying he was guilty of any of the above nor that Ben is/isn’t, but don’t act like Vick’s dogfighting accusations were the first time anyone had accused him of wrongdoing. That’s outright fabrication.
3) This incident has gotten PLENTY of coverage. Claiming otherwise is a gross distortion of facts.
4) There have been PLENTY of people calling down Ben about it. Acting like the whole nation is on his side is also a gross distortion of facts.
5) If I hear Vickolytes read off the “it was just DOGS!!!!!” line one more time, I’m going to run screaming into the night at their absolute stupidity.
I could not care less that Vick fought dogs. I really couldn’t. Dogs fight, whether or not people own them as pets or if they are out in the woods.
OK, now slowly comprehend that and discard your whole “it’s just dogs” garbage and read the following information VERY SLOWLY and VERY CAREFULLY…
a) Vick wasn’t convicted in court for what he did to the dogs. He *was* convicted for being a significant figure of an illegal gambling ring.
b) He was convicted in the court of public opinion for a variety of reasons but one of which had little to do with *fighting* the dogs and how he *treated* the dogs outside of the fighting. There’s a difference between fighting, or even shooting, dogs and attaching electrodes to their ears and throwing them in swimming pools to watch them suffer the slowest and most agonizing death possible. And if you don’t think there’s a difference, I’ll call your local dentist and tell him/her to perform that root canal without anasthesia. And hey, what’s more, I’ll sit and watch the thing because it’s the sor tof thing I just find endlessly entertaining. But hey, that’s not unethnical and it doesn’t make me a bad person, does it? It’s just dental surgery!! You didn’t die and so what if I got off on your pain!
And let me qualify EVERYTHING I stated above by unequivocably making it clear that I think Rothlisberger is an absolute unbearable ass. I have no sympathy towards him whatsoever and if enough evidence is found to convict him of the VERY SERIOUS crime of rape, then by all means convict.

I agree. If I was a woman, it would be a cold day in Hell before I’d root for the Steelers or care about the NFL as long as either exhibits more concern for dogs than women. Vick was convicted of a crime, goodell did not get him out of prison for a meeting cause he was in JAIL. Ben has not been charged with anything! When he does the commish will be swift, if never charged what are you going to suspend him for; aqusations? there is a legal process for a reason and the commish does not get involved until after the legal process takes it’s cours. before you go public do a little research even for a trash site.

Actually, it’s just as illegal to have sex with an intoxicated person as it is to have sex with a person who says no. It is called rape by intoxication. It’s also illegal to have sex with someone who falls unconscious, like most of your old English teachers probably did after reading your god-awful grammar and spelling. He wasn’t suspended until it was determined that he not only lied to Godell but also the Feds. Hmmmm…obstruction of justice, funding an illegal gambling ring, and animal cruelty. All charges that he plead guilty too after his thug lifestyle was uncovered.

I have friends who have actually been raped. It’s a violent crime. What angers me is when drunk under-age college girls get pissed off because a guy doesn’t take them home to cuddle after she offers him a BJ in the bathroom at a bar and then cry “rape.” This girl was wearing a shirt that said “D.T.F.” and there are pictures of her hanging all over him, as well as numerous accounts of her drunkenly following him from bar to bar. As my college-age daughter said, “That’s WAY desperate.” If I were the mother of Ben’s accuser, I’d be asking her some TOUGH questions of my own. Young women have to be accountable for their own bad behavior, just like young men.

The difference between Michael Vick and Big Ben is that Vick was CHARGED with a crime. As of now, Big Ben has not been charged with sexual assault in Georgia or in the other case in Nevada. The Nevada case is a civil case and smells fishy because of that.
If Big Ben does get charged, then Goodell should take action. But how can you take action when no charges are filed?

First, I’m for getting ALL convicted felons of ANY violent crime out of the NFL, and I’m also for suspending any while they ARE suspects in such a case.
That said Michael Vick denied having anything to do with HIS dog fighting ring from April 2007 when his house was raided and the dogs were removed until well into July of 2007 (about 3 months). He didn’t get suspended until August 24 (4.5 months after the raid) and then only AFTER he put a Plea deal in to admit guilt of his crimes.
