The N.C. NAACP will host the Queen City’s first Moral Monday tonight at 5 p.m. starting at Marshall Park (WCNC reports that bad weather will push the protest to St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church on Allen Street). Similar protests will be held in conjunction in different parts of the state, including the east.

As the Republican-controlled legislature passed bills this session that attacked voting rights and cut unemployment benefits and funds for public education, critics took to the streets en masse every week in Raleigh. About 900 protesters were arrested.
