Virginia Foxx infuriated more than a few co-eds this month when she made it clear she didn’t tolerate any who graduate with thousands in debt. She had to work her way through UNC Chapel Hill, she said, even graduating three years later than expected because of her toils.
Well, turns out the infamous Tar Heel representative didn’t have to pay nearly what Carolina students pay now. Yep, even after inflation.
Foxx paid $87.50 per semester back in the ’60s. That translates to $671 in 2012 – about what the average community-college student pays per semester.
Writes education website The Quick and the Ed:
In-state students at Representative Foxx’s alma mater pay $7,008 – more than three times what Foxx paid. It took Foxx seven years to graduate, probably because she was working to put herself through college. During the 7-year period she was at UNC, tuition and fees increased about 0.6 percent per year. Compare that to UNC students who have seen their tuition and fees increase on average 7.2 percent per year since 2005. UNC students who take fewer classes in order to subsidize their tuition through work have found themselves in a losing battle with steep tuition increases.
Not only does Foxx represent a state that prides itself on its public and private higher-education institutions, she also chairs the Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Training.

Obama says plenty of dumb things and even a few outright lies. I have also been hearing a boat load of lies on our local NPR station in articles concerning gun control and Florida laws. Yet nothing here on CL about that. Not really surprising.
Well when he says something dumb that also exposes him as a heartless self-centered asshole completely unconcerned with the difficulties faced by average Americans, you let us know ok?

Really, you believe President Bobo has a clue or really cares about the average American? You are a fool. He only cares about furthering his Socialist Agenda and increasing the size and power of Government along with its control over your life.
NPR had some anti-gun moron on last week who said in FL all you had to do was go to the FL state’s Agriculture website to get a concealed permit. What a load of 100% bull. The requirements are almost identical to those in NC. In fact, NCs process is based on FL’s. A couple of years ago I was watching the government channel of Representatives speaking on the House floor (Washington). He said you could walk into any pawn shop in the US and buy a gun “No questions asked”. I wish I had been sitting in the visitor’s area. I would have been escorted out after yelling “YOU LIE”.
So you have no valid response to the topic at hand, and instead want me to answer for some random guy’s misinformation about gun laws?
