Check out these events going down in Charlotte and the surrounding area this weekend— as selected by the folks at Creative Loafing.

Fri., April 24

Theater: Do blondes really have more fun? No, I don’t think so. Anyone can boost their spirits and get a good laugh during performances of Legally Blonde: The Musical at Ovens Auditorium.

Music: Local act The Avett Brothers have a big gig. Come out to support them when they open for the Dave Matthews Band at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre.

Benefit: Enjoy food, wine and beer during the 2nd Annual Choice Art Silent Auction at Center of the Earth Gallery. And it’s all for a good cause, as proceeds benefit Planned Parenthood Health Systems Prevention Services in Charlotte.

Sat., April 25

Music: When Fleetwood Mac visits Time Warner Cable Arena, you can expect to hear an array of hits spanning from all eras of the band’s lengthy history in the music biz.

Special Event: Do you own your dog or does your dog own you? Either way you should take em’ out (or let em’ take you out) for Bark In The Park at Metrolina Expo. The event includes contests, a Pooch Parade, vendors with dog products and more.

Theater: The play, Under The Red Cloak – which was inspired by the writings of George Wolfe, Nikki Giovanni Toni Morrison and more – celebrates women and cultural diversity. Check it out at Central Piedmont Community College’s Pease Auditorium.

Sun., April 26

Food: Don’t let a little construction keep you away from a good meal at Cuisine Malaya. While you’re there, try the Beef Rendang.

Special Event: Head to Art On The Green in Davidson at the Davidson Village Green for a variety of art from both local and regional artists, as well as music and food.

Theater: It’s your last chance to check out Fiddler On The Roof, Jr., a play about a father who tries to instill Jewish tradition on his three daughters.
