Ladies, close your mouths youre drooling. Seen in movies like John Tucker Must Die and Beyond a Reasonable Doubt, actor Jesse Metcalfe has probably been most lustworthy as John Rowland in ABCs hit series Desperate Housewives. A love affair with the gardener? So hot. Anyway, Metcalfe will be here in Charlotte to host a party tonight at Suite.
Music Tonight, during NoDas Gallery Crawl, you can expect to hear a mix of music, in addition to seeing a diverse collection of art housed in the local galleries. The Jill Dineen Band, The Zealots, You Tonight, and other acts will perform at The Evening Muse, while Actual Proof and The Mantras hit the stage of Neighborhood Theatre. Theater Pirates have invaded Halton Theater just have a look at The Pirates of Penzance for yourself. This comedy-driven production, presented by Central Piedmont Community Colleges Opera Theatre, follows a young pirate, Frederic, who after leaving his ship-infested lifestyle falls in love with Major-General Stanleys daughter, Mabel. One can only imagine thats enough to shiver Stanleys timbers, but even rougher waters are in store, as Frederics former pirate crew arrives on shore to become land lubbers and capture the rest of Stanleys daughters hands in marriage. Poet Johnny Zephir, originally from Haiti and currently residing in the Q.C., is no stranger to famine. But, rather than dwell on the negatives of his past life across the ocean, hes taken to helping others who are less fortunante. On Saturday, Jan. 16, he will release his book, titled Broken Reflection, at RealEyes Bookstore. Proceeds raised from book sales will go help folks in Haiti. Free wine and cheese will be available at the event too.
Music Concert Ventures and Spectra Records are teaming up for a talent-finding shindig, dubbed The Last Band Standing at Neighborhood Theatre tonight. This sounds a little like the TV show Last Comic Standing, only with music and not comedy. Oh, and the winner doesnt exactly get a million dollars, but instead a record contract with Spectra Records and a planned European tour in the fall of 2010 any musicians dream, right? The first round of battle goes down tonight and will feature bands like Echo Code, Unsung Hero, We Shout Goodnight, Brandon Kirkley & The Firecrackers, and more. more…
