Maybe now Obama will wake up. And break out of his bubble. And do the things he was elected to do. And realize that he was elected as a change agent in fact, as president, the change agent. And that voters dont consider letting Wall Street and the banks get away with wrecking the economy and abusing the American public as a change for the better.
And maybe hell wake up to the fact that while hes been letting the country drift and drift and drift, and bungling the health care reform that was supposedly the centerpiece of his agenda, voters have grown mad as hell, and wounded and scared by the economy. Maybe hell wake up to the fact that since he ran as President Change, if he cant deliver, voters will see him as incompetent at best, or a fraud at worst, and will smack him and his party around. Thats what has happened in three special elections now, including the epic, seismic one yesterday in Massachusetts. When voters are as mad as they are now, party identification and even policy specifics dont matter.
In 2008, Barack Obama harnessed Americans desire for a change of course. He still has three years to go, and other presidents have learned from their early mistakes and moved on Truman, Nixon, Clinton come to mind so Obama isnt dead in the water. But hes gonna have to move quickly and forcefully for most Americans to think hes on their side. So far, though, acting quickly and forcefully just arent this guys style, and that could turn out to be a fatal flaw.

It is nice to see Grooms understand that Obama is walking on thin ice. I remember writers for the CL making fun of the tea party demonstrations and town hall meetings. The anger was coming from more than republicans but the Democrats refused to listen and instead treated the lot of them as if they were all evil republicans. They were called many vile names. Some vocal democrats got a dose of their own medicine from other fellow Democrats that wanted to denigrade the tea party protesters. It turned out liberals were making fun of the whole array of voters.
Its not so funny anymore is it?
Again it is nice to see Grooms with the correct take on events for once. Don’t forget the Democrats have been in control of everything but the white house for THREE YEARS NOW!
People make fun of the Tea Partiers because they’re a bunch of whiny, underinformed clowns.
Who else but a clown could seriously compare universal health care to the Holocaust that murdered 6 million Jews?
Who but a clown truly believes that Democrats — who, by the way, still hold dominant majorities in both houses of Congress — want to put in “death panels,” or kill dear old Grandma?
Now I’m not sure I trust the government to run health care, but I sure as shit don’t think it’s some kind of sinister plan to kill people off. Only a jackass could believe that.
The Dems’ problem now is the same problem Republicans had in 2008: Americans don’t really know what the f**k they want. They expect elected leaders to fix every little problem under the sun, and that includes the supposedly anti-government Republicans. The right wing wants to launch wars on several different fronts without raisign taxes. They want to seal off our borders and round up illegal immigrants without raising taxes. Nobody is willing to make a sacrifice anymore, or find any common ground. And yes, that includes the left as well as the right.
If we’d had this attitude during WWII I guarantee we would have lost.
The tea partiers know more than most of the population. This shows your lack of knowledge.
There are a few people out on the fringes of every group. To use hitler line and say that represents even 1% of the tea partiers would be a huge lie. Also its nothing compared to the 33% of democrats that think Bush took the trade towers down on purpose and had a hand in it.
The death panels are actually real. They are not called death panels but they are the same thing. They will not put a bullet in your head but they will ration care. When rationing happens the old are the ones that gain the least from treatments so they will be the ones denied care the most for the sake of the rest. Its just the way socialized medicine works.
Obama care is not a plan to kill people off. It will be a side effect but that is not its goal. The gaol is more government power, that will move us closer to the nanny state. Look at cancer survival rates and child mortality rates(apples to apples comparison not the scewed propoganda) for Socialized vs capitalist USA. You have a much better chance of living in the good ole USA.
The Democrats helped lauch every war we are in MR ana.
I think the public was happier with Bush. All of this Democrats shoving stuff down the publics throat in back room deals and BRIBES is not what the people wanted. This kinda of stuff makes Bush look like a saint. Obama has visibly broken so many promises and then lies about it to our face with 1984ish gibberish.
Learn a little more before you speak.
Frank, you’re an idiot. Anyone with an ounce of intelligence knows it. You’re the only one in the world who doesn’t seem to know it. You write your silly little posts and you think you’re intelligent but trust me, everyone is laughing at you.
You’re also a lunatic. 33% of Dems think Bush took the Twin Towers down? Whose asshole did you pull that fact out of? Who did you get that from? Glenn Beck? I hope it’s Glenn Beck. Because he’s the P.T. Barnum of announcers, making a killing by saying outrageous things in front of clueless little dorks like you. And you just lap it up. Just like the brainless lemming you are.
You’re a sad case, Frank. You really are. But I don’t feel sorry for you. In fact, I think you’re hilarious. You don’t have enough brains or original thought to have your own column, so you spend your days and nights commenting on someone else’s column. You’re the ultimate joke. I bet you got picked on as a kid, yes? I bet the other kids made fun of you and kicked your skinny, silly little ass on a daily basis. is that why you’re so disturbed, Frank? Please open up to us. Tell us your story.
I’m a Libertarian who supported Ron Paul in ’08 and pulled for Libertarian candidate Joe Kennedy (no relation, obviously) in the Mass. race over two candidates from the Republicrat Party. I have no use for the two-party system and hope America will finally awake to the problems of the two-party system.
But after reading the comments here, I side with the one who says these Tea Party folks are idiots. They are. I attended a couple of Tea Party functions and came away wondering if there’s any such thing as a true conservative anymore. These Tea Partyers, they are pro-government activists who support wasteful wars and wasteful immigration policies and wasteful drug laws.
Sorry Mr. Griffin, if you agree with them then you’re another fake conservative.
lol who’s this Frank Griffin? Dude’s messed up on meth yo!
I hope Obama gets the message as well — mainly, that he actually does some of the things he promised to do. He still has sizeable majorities in Congress so it’s time he showed a little more muscle.
As to the Tea Party issue that seems to have taken over this thread — Frank Griffin says they “know more” than most Americans. I doubt that. My feeling, based on what I’ve seen, is that the Tea Baggers only know what they’ve been told, probably by someone on Fox News. They don’t strike me as the kinds of people who take the time to do objective research. They just chant empty slogans and make a lot of noise and get lots of airtime on conservative media. Their reputation far exceeds their actual power. They’re a small right-wing fringe group and most of them never voted for Obama in the first place.
They didn’t hurt the Dems in Mass. because they never would have voted Democrat to begin with. More likely it was the loss of support among independents and moderates from both parties.
I’d suggest that Mr. Griffin spend more time enlightening himself to other points of view instead of just parroting the same old Fox News rhetoric.
Frank, you continue to confound logic and truth. this is what you wrote earlier:
“Also its nothing compared to the 33% of democrats that think Bush took the trade towers down on purpose and had a hand in it.”
Here is what the Zogby Poll said:
“42% of Democrats think Bush either caused 9/11 or let it happen”
These are two entirely different points. Maybe you don’t have the clarity of thought to recognize that. Perhaps you’re too thick. I just don’t know.
I have no doubt that many Democrats, and non-Dems, believe Bush dropped the ball on 9/11 because there was plenty of intelligence beforehand indicating an attack on U.S. soil was imminent. That’s just saying that either through hubris, inexperience, incompetence or all of the above, the Bush Administration failed to properly heed the warning signs and didn’t do enough to prevent an attack. Chances are a Dem President would have made the same mistake. In fact there’s clear evidence that FDR knew the Pearl Harbor attack was coming and allowed it to happen to kick-start the U.S. into the war.
Your earlier, completely off-base point was that one-third of Dems think Bush took the Towers down on purpose. Like he orchestrated the whole thing. That’s total bullshit. There are plenty of wackos who believe Bush “orchestrated” it, but I guarantee you it’s a microscopic portion of the Dem party. Democrats supported Bush in the days and weeks following 9/11. He had huge approval ratings. Then he did the wrong thing by invading Iraq, and his popularity plummeted.
I’m sorry you have such a hard time discerning the truth, Frank. It’s obvious your mind has been warped by too much time thinking about things you can’t possibly understand. You’re the same kind of bitter reactionary toad who would have supported Klan rallies 50 years ago.
And as you can see by this thread, there are plenty of people on both sides of the political aisle who see you for the moronic sham you are.
Frank, you seem to make the common leap most right-wingers make: that any other point-of-view is automatically some socialist/communist point of view. It sounds like you’re channeling McCarthy. Perhaps you should act more mature and realize that it’s not all black/white, us/them, that there are many shades of gray and plenty of degrees of political belief.
I won’t even argue your whole communist point — it’s so crazy as to be laughable.
But: There are those of us who believe in capitalism as well as public sector programs. I make my living in the business world. My mother was a homemaker who now depends on Medicare to help pay her medical bills. And she has plenty of medical bills. I don’t have a problem with the government helping her out. I don’t mind paying taxes for these kinds of programs. It’s the cost of living in our society. I don’t agree with where all the tax dollars go, but I agree that they are necessary. I don’t have a problem with public transit. Or national parks. Or 100 other things that are run by the public sector.
I suggest you develop some perspective.
I like doughnuts.
Thanks Frank, I think I just figured it out. You’re unbalanced. It’s more than obvious, judging by your rambling, paranoid screeds. That explains it all now.
A wise man once said, “You can’t argue with a crazy person. Because they don’t know they’re crazy.”
Good night, Frank. Remember to take your meds. Stay away from sharp objects. And don’t pay attention to those little voices in your head. They’re not real.
Or are they?
Interesting thought, Frank Griffin, saying “liberals never like to respond to direct questions because they require a direct answer.”
I think you should change it to, “thinking, rational adults don’t like to respond to questions from Frank Griffin because they are so illogical and insane, to even acknowledge them is to enable the insanity.”
For instance, you wonder why I didn’t respond directly to your question about communism. Well, why should I? In about two sentences you went from calling me a “liberal” (actually, you don’t even know me) to saying “communism is a heart choice that cost 100 million people their lives.”
To use the slang vernacular: WTF? You’re asking me to explain away the horrors of communism simply because YOU YOURSELF DECIDED FOR WHATEVER INSANE REASON THAT I SOMEHOW HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH COMMUNISM.
So let’s play your game, Frank. I want you to answer these questions:
You are very right-wing in your politics. How long have you been a member of radical right-wing groups like the Ku Klux Klan, American Nazi Party, White Supremist Skinheads, and American Militia Movement?
How many times have you been directly involved in the murder of minorities, gays, people of color or doctors who provide abortion services?
Your movement was directly involved in the Oklahoma City bombing. How big a role did you personally play?
The worst terrorist attack in U.S. history occured under your president, George W. Bush. Yet you continued to support him. Why do you hate America so much?
Don’t evade, Frank. Answer the questions.
Great points about the laughably insane Mr. Griffin, Alex. I couldn’t have put it better myself.
Unfortunately, they’ll probably fly right over his head. In addition to being wrong about damn near everything, Frank strikes me as the kind of guy who lacks the cleverness to understand irony or sarcasm.
You’re probably right. The bitterness of these right wingers amazes me. What, really, do they have to complain about? Ninety-nine percent of them are middle-class whites who never faced one-thousandth the obstacles most people face. It seems they like nothing better than blaming all their problems on someone else: immigrants, minorities, “liberals,” Democrats. I truly believe their bitterness is rooted in fear: fear of losing their strangehold on the decision-making process. It won’t be long before the majority of Americans are non-caucasian. That’s probably what scares them the most.
Excellent points all the way Anarchist, except Frank is sort of right when he says “If you knew my family you would take the stupid clan comment back”. It’s common knowledge on this site that he married a mail order bride from Asia so he’s not a complete racist. But considering how he defended domestic violence against women in a post several months ago, he’s a chauvinist so that’s not any better.
Sadly (and seriously), I think that in addition to being your stereotypical bitter White American, Frank is also a little unhinged. No, a lot unhinged. Just look at his posts. The guy sounds like the Unabomber. Fortunately, he looks like Dagwood from the Blondie cartoon, so I’m sure he’s perfectly harmless.
BTW, mail order bride?
Wow. Now that ties it all together for me concering Frank Griffin.
Yep, that explains a WHOLE lot…
CL was at it deleting posts again. Luckily for you guys I save my posts.
Look at the peanut gallery in action hehe.
All of these posts and not one answer. You guys continue to prove me right. I told you liberals cannot answer dirsct questions and ALL of you did exactly what I said you would do BRAVO. Asking your own questions without answering my questions = changing the subject BTW. Let me restate them for those of you that are feeble minded.
—————————-
Do you think most Tea party folks compare health care to Hitler and the holocaust?
Do you think tea party folks are more uninformed than your average voter?
Do you think socialized medicine will ration health care to old people?
Did the right start all these wars without Dem support?
——————————-
Now look at the questions you asked me.
——————————-
You are very right-wing in your politics.
——————————–
You guys also said this.
Remember to take your meds. Stay away from sharp objects. And dont pay attention to those little voices in your head. Theyre not real.
stereotypical bitter White American, Frank is also a little unhinged. No, a lot unhinged. Just look at his posts. The guy sounds like the Unabomber.
BTW, mail order bride?
rambling, paranoid screeds
You guys want to call me unbalanced.
———————————
You guys are the ones that sound unhinged. Just look at yourselves. The topic of this thread was about Dems getting thier butts waxed and you guys talk about poor right wing losers. The right wing is on the climb goof balls hehe, not that most of them deserve it. I think its more like two people drowning and the right wing guy just stepped on the head of the Democrat and is now out of the water.
I dont really care what color the electorate is or will be. I want smart people to vote is all.
I met my wife in grad school on campus BTW.
Anyways look back at the posts and see who has to resort to name calling because they do not have a logical foot to stand on.
Answer my questions? They are not hard and they are not trying to insult you, even if the voices in your heads tell you they are.
You’re right, Anarchist. It all flew over Frank’s head. Why am I not surprised?
lol. Gosh, you’re so emotional, Frank, going on and on with your little tantrum. You right-wingers just get so emotional.
Mr. Griffin, you ever get the feeling that things aren’t what they seem?
That maybe the reason so many people mess with you is because it’s so easy to get under your skin? The way a teenage boy likes to tease his little sister, just for the sheer naughty fun of it?
That you really don’t know whether these people are even real, or just made-up characters who exist for no other reason than to log onto this Web site every so often and push your buttons, because they’re so easy to push?
That they don’t really give a rat’s ass about politics at all? But just like waiting for your inevitable, long-winded counterposts whenever someone gives you a nudge? And that they know EXACTLY what to say to get you all fired up again?
Now I don’t know much about politics myself. I think it’s for fools and liars. I’d rather spend my time doing something enjoyable.
But I can’t help but notice the irony in someone like you claiming to be the non-emotional voice of reason, when it’s obvious how easy it is to get you to go off the deep end on a regular basis.
Food for thought, my friend.
Well now, Mr. Frank. You “win?” See, it seems to me that’s the kind of thing a 10-year-old might say after a farting contest or something. Of course, I’m no expert. I’m just a simple guy out for a fun time. I didn’t realize these here threads were a competition.
On the other hand, if the other guys are just tweaking you to get a reaction out of you, it seems to me they win.
Of course, I’m no expert. Nossir. Not me.
If you’ll notice, Frank, the Sky Eye referred to those who criticize you as “teenage boys.”
You, he referred to as the “little sister.”
Yep. That sounds about right.
We should not be so surprised by the Dems’ recent setbacks. After the 2008 elections, Noam Chomsky hit the nail on the head when he said Obama’s victory should have been much better. I borrow his words now:
“By usual indicators, the opposition party should have had a landslide victory during a severe economic crisis, after eight years of disastrous policies on all fronts including the worst record on job growth of any post-war president and a rare decline in median wealth, an incumbent so unpopular that his own party had to disavow him, and a dramatic collapse in US standing in world opinion. The Democrats did win, barely. If the financial crisis had been slightly delayed, they might not have.
A good question is why the margin of victory for the opposition party was so small, given the circumstances. One possibility is that neither party reflected public opinion at a time when 80% think the country is going in the wrong direction and that the government is run by “a few big interests looking out for themselves,” not for the people, and a stunning 94% object that government does not attend to public opinion. As many studies show, both parties are well to the right of the population on many major issues, domestic and international.”
The 2008 elections were not so much a mandate for Obama as they were a mandate against the disastrous Bush II reign. This was a lesson Obama and the Dems would have done well to learn early.
The winning thing is just stating basic fact. If the other team does not even show up to the game you win. These guys have yet to attend training day let alone a single game. The truth hurts sometimes but I am not here to sugar coat things like their schools probably do.
Your right we should not be surprised by the Democrats losses in the last 3 big elections. It is because of Obama insistence of trying failed ideas over again thinking that it will be different this time because he is in charge. If Obama had not been so arrogant and broken so many promises and pushed for so many backward policies the Democrats would still be winning by 7 percent or more in these elections.
Also it took 8 years for bush to do what he did. It took only 1 year for Obama to turn most people against his party. BTW congress which has most of the real power has been in Democrat hands for 3 years now. I know people get all caught up in the figure head situation but congress runs most of the show. SO you can say the Republicans under Bush had 6 years of doing bla bla bla.
Some of what you say makes sense but saying both parties are well to the right of the population is just foolish. This is a center right country so republicans are slightly to the right of the nation and Democrats are far to the left of the nation. The only reason any of these races are close is due to the news media and our education systems being run by liberals. This last election is a prime example. Remember all the investigators being sent up to Alaska to find out about the VP choice? There was none of that for our little known presidential candidate named Obama. The details about Bill Ayers and such should have been looked into. Instead he is given a pass by the liberal media. So basically the media created this Obama mess we are currently in.
I have said it several times in the past that Obama has a silver lining. He will screw things up so bad that it will jolt people back into sanity. This will of course result in a Republican landslide in the next elections.
Noam Chomsky is a peddler of failed political ideas. He is a perfect example of how excellence in one area does not always result in excellence in other areas.
Congrats on the normal post Anarchist.
See, I knew the Chomsky post would grab old Frank’s attention, and he’d come back with some long-winded, half-baked horseshit defending the right wing and criticizing the left. Took me about 8 seconds to find something that would piss Frank off, and he logs on in the middle of the night to spend probably 30 minutes on his answer. You’re so predictable, Frank. You’re so loony.
Like I said, it’s like fishing.
You just bait the hook and drop it in the water. He he
See Mr. Griffin? They’re just playing you like a yo-yo.
Not that I’m an expert.
