There’s a new John Lennon exhibit at the fabulous new Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Annex in New York City. It’s called “John Lennon: The New York Years,” and it includes Lennon’s famous New York City T-shirt, some of his guitars, his piano from the Dakota apartment, letters detailing Lennon’s long battle against deportation, song lyrics, and a posthumous 1981 Grammy Award for the couple’s album Double Fantasy. And, oh yeah, a paper bag containing the blood-soaked clothes Lennon was wearing the night he was murdered at age 40. The decision to include the bloody clothes was made by Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono, who says she thinks it’s important to let people see the effects of gun violence. “It was hard to include,” Ono said. “And I thought it might be criticized as well.” Um, no kidding, lady. Here’s betting she hasn’t heard the last of the criticism. Meanwhile, the exhibit will be on display throughout 2009.
