Vida Mexican Kitchen y Cantina opens at the EpiCentre Uptown on September 30.
The restaurant, which will be Uptown’s only Mexican joint (besides Salsarita’s), serves up “authentic Mexican cuisine and handcrafted margaritas.”
Vida’s bar is stocked with over 50 tequilas and they offer a “Skinny Margarita” which only weighs in at 100 calories. Guacamole gets made tableside on a cart by a specialized guacamole chef. Tortilla chips are made locally and are fried up fresh when you order. A few things to remember when you go: Get the guac, carnita tacos (made of pork confit … or, as they say, cooked in lard), and the churros.

Looks good enough, but that’s what I call “high falutin’ Mexican.” What I really want uptown is a cheap, good Mexican joint that serves up the combinations like you can get at La Unica and other restaurants around town. But alas, they’ve priced the properties uptown so high that a regular Mexican joint can’t afford it. Guess I can get some chips and salsa here and try a burrito. If I have an extra $30 laying around.
What a creative name, I’d like to go there because I’ve heard they offers us the most incredible cocktails for people who like drinks, buy the way the name of that is the same than Ricky Martin’s song.
