Small Bites

Tim Tams, a chocolate-covered rectangular Aussie cookie, are now available in the United States just in time for the hot chocolate season. The best way to eat this cookie is a Tim Tam Slam, as they are affectionately called. Bite off opposing corners of the cookie and use it as a straw to sip hot chocolate. Just before the cookie is fully saturated, pop the entire cookie in your mouth. The Pepperidge Farm Tim Tam cookies are being offered to promote the movie Australia and will be available from November 2008 through March 2009 at Target stores nationwide, with a suggested retail price of $3.39. Now if only I can find some ANZAC cookies.

Goat Cheese Chocolate Truffles are the newest local products for the holiday season. The truffles were created by cheesemaker Michele Lamb of Bosky Acres, a family-owned-and-operated goat dairy in Waxhaw. They are available at the Matthews Community Farmers Market and the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market on Saturday mornings; area EarthFare stores; and at Dean & DeLuca in Phillips Place.
