Kim Karnes has been rocking Charlotte as the guitarist for Luna’s Lament, but her recent diagnosis with breast cancer has struck a major chord in the local music community.
The “KimNiption ‘Fit” is going to be held at Amos’ Southend on Feb. 17 to help support the battle she faces. “She’s looking at surgery in about a month, so we want to send her into it with really high spirits, with certainty and without fear,” said Lindy Dobbins, local musician and event promoter.
Bands on the bill are Lindy Dobbins & the Red Velvet Manx, Carmona, Echo Code, Stella Kidd, Volatile Baby and Karnes’ own, Luna’s Lament. “We had so many bands respond that we couldn’t fit them all in,” said Dobbins.
“Hopefully we’ll have some resources at the benefit too,” Dobbins added, to educate and reinforce the importance of early detection. Doors open at 5 p.m., $10 donation and $2 surcharge for those under 21.
