On Q Productions and The Bearden Society will present Hip-Hop Unplugged: Part 1 East Coast at the Mint Museum Uptown Tuesday, May 1, at 7 p.m.

The show will present the story of hip-hop through the creative eyes of the artists it has inspired. Conceived and directed by Stacey Rose, it will feature art and music by DJ Justice, Concrete Generation, Citizens of the Universe, Ida Divine, Michelle Flowers, KinkyThought, Filmore Johnson and Carlleena Person.

Among the songs on the soundtrack of the event are Jay-Z’s “Big Pimpin’,” Beastie Boys’ “Brass Monkey,” LL Cool J’s “I’m Bad” and “Ms. Fat Booty” by Mos Def.

The event is free, though a $10 donation is suggested.
