Charlotte musician Andy the Doorbum said farewell on Sunday night to a packed Milestone as he prepares to move to California. Featuring what Andy called a “dream lineup” including a reunion of Charlotte instrumental quartet Hectagons, Nerve Endings (who were joined by Andy for a Jesus Lizard cover) and solo sets by Robert Childers and Bo White, the show culminated with an art performance by Andy. After smashing an acoustic guitar with a sledgehammer, he got the entire venue to sing along with him to the lyrics, “I’m going to miss North Carolina when I’m gone.” As I wrote in a column last week, we’re going to miss you too, Andy. We can’t wait to see what you do next. Come back soon…
