Heralded in some corners as one of the city’s up-and-coming acts, Modern Primitives‘ garage-rock is more White Stripes than Greenhornes, more Black Lips than Ty Segal, and probably more psych-blues rock than garage-rock in the first place. It favors raw over melodic, but still knows where the hooks are — you just have to wait a little longer and the payoff doesn’t get you quite as buzzed.

This night is also the 8th Annual P-M Suit Night, so de-dustball those Armanis, Nudie suits and Men’s Wearhouse duds and bring some grub to benefit the Shelter for Battered Women. A couple of cans/non-perishable food donations will get you in for free; 10 of ‘em will get you slightly closer to heaven, though I wouldn’t hold your breath on getting in. DJ Shawn Lynch is spinning vinyl as well, and it’s said his record collection is among the finest in all the land.
