Nikki Sixx’s solo project, Sixx A.M. has released a new CD entitled, This is Gonna Hurt. It’s the musical companion to Sixx’s newest book by the same title, one he wrote without a ghostwriter to document the three years following his book, The Heroin Diaries. It’s a collection that is part journal, part photos, part memoir and part social commentary.

You can win a copy of the CD AND book simply by entering a comment below via a valid e-mail address. Let us know if you liked the first book, if you’re going to see the Crue this summer at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre or why you’d like to hear the new CD or read the book.

We’ll pick FIVE winners on May 17.

NOTE: In order to win, you must be able to pick up your prize (or send a friend/family member) from the Charlotte Creative Loafing office. These books are heavy, so we can’t afford to mail them out… Sorry! It’s also a way to give a little love back to our local readers.

Jeff Hahne became the music editor for Creative Loafing Charlotte in March 2007. He graduated with a degree in journalism and minor in Spanish from Auburn University in 1997. Since then he has worked for...

  1. The Heroin Diaries was an excellent book. It did a great job describing what was going on at the time by his excellent writing and artwork. It was great to see someone turn their life around after being rock bottom. I have read it twice, and would LOVE to have a copy of the new book and CD. I have yet to get a ticket to see CRUE this summer, but I will definitely be there one way or another.

you have to be the dumbest motherfucker that i have ever read more shit from. i actually like readin your dumbass just to see how your dumbass auburn thinkin racist dipshit motherf0cker that you are, comes across and i have come to reason. come listen to my band play one night. we’re called the Concord Stallions. We sound like the Avett Brothers mixed with Mumford’s Sons

  3. That’s the most glowing advertisement for your band that I’ve ever read. Quite the vocabulary and grammar you have, too. Thanks for reading.

  4. The Heroin Diaries was an interesting trip into the mind of a person who was a figurehead to so many growing up and were probably unaware just how drastic the rampant drug abuse of Motley Crue and in particular, Nikki Sixx, really was. Now that Sixx is clean & sober, he’s found a new creative outlet in his photography. Can’t wait to see what this book delivers as I’ve been impressed with his development and growth as artist and a person since the Heroin Diaries days.

  5. The first book was fantastic. Nikki didn’t hold anything back, I enjoyed the fact that he was so candid about what he’d been through. Also, yes, I already have a ticket to see Crue this summer. It’ll be my first time seeing them live and I’m incredibly excited! I find Nikki to be an inspiration, and that’s why I’d enjoy reading his second book. Thanks!

  6. I thought Nikki’s first book was a very interesting read. I never miss the Crue when they come to town! I would love to hear the new CD and also read the new book.

  7. The first book was an amazing experience.Looking through the life of an rock star while reading this book is simply unbelievable.
As the The Heroin Diaries which is outstanding I’d like to get in touch with This is Gonna Hurt and read it.New album should be great as the previous one so it’s great having it.For Crue I’m not sure but something will be done.

  8. I absolutely loved Nikki’s first book – I remember not being able to put it down and I didn’t want it to end. I wanted more so I guess I’m finally going to get it. I’m anxious to see if its as good a read as his first!!!

  9. I am a life long fan of MC and its band members. The 1st book and the Dirt are both great. Looking forward to see what is in store for Nikki and Sixx A.M. Life is Beautiful was a great track. I am sure there will be some favorites on the new album too.

I have see Motley Crue 14 times since 1985 and would LOVE to see them again 🙂

  10. Nikki Sixx’s life is a testament that you can go through something harsh and come out on the other end having learned something valuable. I would LOVE the chance to hear the new cd and see if he let loose in this book without the help of a ghostwriter. Long live Motley Crue!!!! Thanks!

  11. I loved The Heroin Diaries. I can’t believe Nikki is still alive. I can’t wait to see Motley this summer, unfortunately from the Lawn. Even though Sixx AM will never tour, I can’t wait to hear This is Gonna Hurt. If I win it, I wont have to buy it.
