As you probably noticed, the Sunset Club closed for renovations about the same time Suite opened. Well, they didn’t just renovate the club, they also renovated the ownership. Panther’s player Jason Kyle was bought out by the owners of the mansion where the infamous Lucid Dreams party was held.
I actually went there to visit the set of the photo shoot of the new and improved Sunset Club advertisement that is running in the Loaf as we speak, or type rather. The shoot was more like a party with cameras and a glam squad.
The said photo shoot was arranged to promote the club’s re-opening scheduled for this weekend. They used the actual furniture from the Sunset Club on the shoot and used members as models. In other words, what you see in the ad is what you get.
Between the Lion Rug that greets you when you walk through the door, the glamorous gang, the random sushi bar in the kitchen, and just the overall upscale vibe made me feel like I was chasing the green fairy in Vegas. And since I don’t have a filter for my thoughts and words, I said it.
“Our closest competition is in Vegas,” hails one of the owners.
Sunset Club is considered an Ultra Lounge. And in order to be considered an Ultra Lounge, you have to be a million dollar club. Kind of like a 5 star hotel – or a club you’d see in Vegas.
The owners and promoters pumping me full of red wine and information about the club adamantly made the point that Charlotte is a growing metropolis – and as the city gets bigger, the better the nightlife has to get in order to keep up.
“We are the place to take celebrities when they’re in town,” says Rick Gurr, one of the longtime owners.
The founder of the Beautiful Club, Derek Braun will be now managing and marketing the new and improved Sunset Club and said that Sunset Club is a Concierge Club. “If our guests want happy meals at their table, we’ll have it there waiting for them,” he says.
The best part about the renovations is that there will be better ventilation – so you’ll be able to breathe the following morning in lieu of all the cigar smoke. And they intend to throw more Lucid Dream parties there. I had to miss the Saturday night party at the mansion (it’s wedding season), but I heard it was a lot like an erotic Alice in Wonderland.

Yep, going back to it’s exclusive member’s only day. We had so many people ask for it so we’re bringing it back.
HAHA, yeah give that another shot…what a joke that “snow” bar is…Shit can we have anymore clubs from people who have never been to big cities…Suite prolly the biggest laugh in the city but hey wiskey river has a the rednecks you need they should sell white beaters at the door so everyone is in dress code
just to be clear sunset club is a members only-type spot. then why are they advertising..any who how could one be apart? the ad looked great trendy, uique, lively i thought i saw go go dancers but maybe not, i’d just love more info if anyone can help.
