I can’t say I’m a fan of their name, “WSNB,” but the music is just as “nasty” as the acronym — “We Sing Nasty Blues.” The band is holding a CD release party for its latest, “jomo swamp root boogie” at the Double Door on June 3. With smooth slide guitar, nicely-fitted harmonica riffs, gritty vocals and down-home blues, the 15-track CD leaves its mark on the listener. It’s foot-tapping music at its finest. They’ve shared the stage with some big names, but the album is a good step in making a name for themselves. The group is often found playing around the state, check ’em out when you can.

Local musician/songwriter James Deem recently released his first CD of original music. The 10-track album became available on May 18 and was produced by Jamie Hoover (The Spongetones). The pop/rock album offers Deem a chance to get away from being known as another cover-artist while showcasing his songwriting abilities, guitar skills and vocals. Deem often touches on themes of love on the CD. While it can get a little sappy at times, it’s a solid songwriting debut. He can often be found performing at Promenade on Providence and RiverGate.
