According to Jim

Welcome to the world of Creative Loafing cartoonist Jim Hunt. Hunt is as much a part of CL as the ink we print with, and the holidays wouldn’t be the same around here without our annual “Best of Jim Hunt” cartoon compendium.

For years, Hunt has captured the irony, the hypocrisy and the comedy of the local political scene in his cartoons, regularly spattering our pages with spoofs of everyone from Charlotte Area Transit System transit czar Ron Tober to right-wing Mecklenburg County Commissioner Bill James.

Hunt finds humor in places you’d least expect, like his own foyer, where he met his teenage daughter’s new beau — who also happened to be James’ son.

In addition to his years with CL, Hunt has tooned and illustrated for Variety, the Washington Times, NASCAR, the Christian Science Monitor and MSNBC to name a few.

He lives along the Chesapeake Bay in Annapolis, Md., with the women he describes as “my beautiful wife and daughters Chelsea and Isabella.”

Let’s get 2007 off to a GREAT start by getting a NEW cartoonist. Mr. Hunt’s work isn’t funny, he lives in MARYLAND, and his style is that of a washed-up shopping mall caricature artist. Has anybody noticed the HUGE stacks of Creative Loafings around town this week? Nobody cares about bad cartoons. This past year, some of his cartoons were printed about the same size as a business card. That’s still way too big! Make his loyal readers (all 3 of them) get out their microscopes!
