Q: Did you check out Sen. Barack Obama when he came to Charlotte last week?
A: I didn’t go to the big Obama rally this past Sunday, but I did drive by. I’m not into huge crowds, and honestly I had the pleasure of meeting the senator right before the South Carolina primaries. And that meeting was with Obama and about seven other journalists … so, you know, no crowds.
Looking back on that meeting, I can’t help but trip out a little. At that time (and it must be hard to believe at this point) folks weren’t really expecting Obama to be in the race long. As a result, when I met him, I thought I was meeting a guy who was quickly about to be taken out of the race. Of course it turned out that I quite possibly had an intimate meeting with the next leader of the free world.
Time will definitely tell.
In the meantime — whether you vote for McCain, Obama or even Bon Barr — vote dammit!
