A: Well, here are the facts: Creative Loafing Inc., the company that owns Creative Loafing Charlotte, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Sept. 29.

Of course when people hear the word “bankruptcy,” they usually think a company is going out of business. But that’s really not the case here. We’re still alive and kicking … as evidenced by the fact that you’re holding a paper in your hands.

The bankruptcy, according to CL CEO Ben Eason, will have no effect on normal business, and no liquidation or impending sale of the company is on the horizon.

What will this mean for you readers? Not much. Creative Loafing will keep coming out every week — as always — and we’ll continue to bring you our take on news, arts, movies, food and more. Actually, the reorganization gives us some added resources to beef up our Web site and give you more reasons to check out what CL has to offer every day.

So keep reading. The best is yet to come. Any questions? Feel free to e-mail me directly.
