Quiet good bye: A 67-year-old CMS cafeteria worker became sick and lost consciousness on the job at James Martin Middle School about an hour before lunch time last week. Medics tried to revive the woman for 40 minutes before pronouncing her dead. In the report, police stated that the incident took place in the rear of the cafeteria and that no students or staff saw what had happened. According to the report, “The body was quietly removed and the school day continued with no incident.”
For Your Safety: Police responded to an assault call off The Plaza last week and found a suspect who had all the best intentions. The 54-year-old victim told police that the man she was with punched her because he didn’t want her to cross the busy street.
Out On Top: A couple of days after Black Friday, a local restaurant even turned an attempted robbery into profit. A man walked into Sunrise Restaurant on Albemarle Road and asked the cashier to change a $5 bill. When the cashier opened the cash register the suspect reached over, grabbed money and ran away. The suspect was probably miffed when he was able to count his earnings, however, as he only grabbed $2. The employee was still holding his original bill and the restaurant marked their losses in the police report at (-)$3.
Be Safe: A man was robbed while walking down the street in southwest Charlotte last week and was left unprotected for the rest of the night. The man told officers that two men shoved him to the ground, pulled a gun and demanded money. The man didn’t have any cash on him but said he gave the robbers the next best things: an iPhone 4s and a box of condoms.
Loungin’: A NoDa resident was alarmed to walk out of his room and find an intruder taking it easy in the living room. The victim told officers that the man was simply sitting on his couch when he entered the room. He ran out of the door but a suspect was soon arrested nearby.
The pits: A 39-year-old man was injured during a domestic disturbance in east Charlotte, but not at the hands of the woman with whom he argued. Police reported that the man was involved in an ongoing altercation, and during this altercation he happened to walk right into an open utility pit. The man was hospitalized with minor injuries.
Weedwhacker: A man learned the hard way last week that following the rules sometimes gets you in trouble. The 22-year-old victim told police he was approached by two men as he walked along Albemarle Road who asked if he had any marijuana. When he said he did not, one man hit him over the head with a 2×4. The other man then proceeded to smash his ankle with the board until the victim was able to get away and run to a friend’s house.
