CL Editor Carlton Hargro and Nsenga Burton, author of our weekly column The N Word, are set to be presented with honors by the Urban League of Central Carolinas at the group’s 2008 Leadership Awards Ceremony on Feb. 2.
Burton and Hargro — along with promoter Michael Kitchen and Pride magazine publisher Torrey Feimster — are being recognized because of their “commitment to professional and personal development, philanthropic engagements and in some cases community activism.”
The event (to be held from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Grand Central, 1000 Central Ave.) is open to the public and will feature a live performance by soul vocalist Goapele. Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door; to purchase advance tickets, visit www.thesoulmovement.com or contact Dee Miller at 704-451-9001.
