How would Jesus dress?
This past week your front cover and your article (“Postmodern Christianity,” April 5) was interesting, but not new. These people are what is termed Willow Creek-type ministries, come as you are, leave as you came, sloppy agape, pseudo-type Christianity, no change to their lives, sammo, sammo. Sadly, they have no real joy and assurance of going to a place called Heaven, it’s all worldly, sensual, devilish, my will, not thy will. I really feel sorry for these people. God does not call us to copy the world and adapt their music, ways, ideas. Jesus died to make us a new creature, that we don’t even recognize ourselves sometimes. We don’t like the same things we use to like, they just do not have an interest for us whatsoever.
And going to God’s house, we should wear and look our best, it’s a witness to our neighbor on Sunday morn that we are going to God’s house to worship and carry our Bible. God’s house is truly open to all, including alcoholics, homosexuals, whoremongers, but a true man of God will tell you that we are all born in sin and must be born again from Heaven, Jesus didn’t die a horrible painful death so we could continue to practice sin [also living together, shacking up]. He loves us, but hates sin! And he will judge both eventually. We don’t make the rules for God, he laid it all out in the Bible for us to obey him and love him enough to live in a Godly manner and repent daily, hourly if necessary, a short list if you will. I really believe we are living in the closing days of time and we are seeing the Laodicean church age, the church that makes Jesus sick to even look at it. Anything seems to go!

More on the Blues Cruise
Kelly Hill’s article about the Panther cruise (Urban Explorer, March 29) just made me wonder what ship she was on??!! My son, son-in-law and I had the greatest time. Kelly must have stayed in her room because we ran into the players at breakfast and dinner, on deck, in the bars and even at Karaoke when Minter set Rucker up to sing!! Ruck ran out of the bar … twice when this happened. Also, Kelly doesn’t mention that the team and AAA put gifts in our rooms each night. She also must have missed the open bar receptions on Thursday and Sunday nights when the players were taking pictures with all of the fans and the autograph session where we got all five players’ autographs. The Q&A sessions were super as was the strength and conditioning program. As for the “credentials” that we all wore, those made great autograph collectibles. The best part of the trip was seeing the players with their families. I will never forget seeing Steve Smith sprawled out on the floor in the airport on our return trip playing with his kids. I even got a picture taken with Rucker and Minter’s wives. I told them the guys were getting too much attention and it was about time they had their pix made.
Bottom line. Kelly apparently really missed out on a lot of fun things to do with the players and I feel sorry for her missing this opportunity. Hope Kelly will make the trip next year and hang with us guys. We can show her how to enjoy this trip. It really was well planned and organized and there was plenty of time to meet and talk with the players.
