Damn that Tepid Mediocrity!
If we are really to believe the Avetts’ brand of simpering folk pap as serving as “America’s Last Great Rock Band,” then America — the world, for that matter — is in serious trouble (Editor’s Note by Mark Kemp, Sept. 20). From the middle class to the middle of the road leads the Avett parade, and I for one know better.
When will CL employ a critic with the balls to actually employ some objectivity and honesty instead of the tired undeserved praise heaped upon our seriously anemic music “scene”? Tepid mediocrity and hipster pose seem enough to pull the wool over your ears.

Coffee Clarification
Not Just Coffee is not the only place in Charlotte that does pour-over coffee (“Cool Beans” by Emiene Wright, Sept. 13). The Smelly Cat has been doing it. Think a clarification needs to be made on that since people wanting that process will think that’s the only place to find the “groundbreaking” process. Smelly Cat also will be roasting coffee as well. Good fact-checking.
