The #NeedAHome2StayAtHome Campaign Demands That Gov. Cooper Protect the Rights of Homeless and Houseless NC Residents As a coalition, The #NeedAHome2StayAtHome Campaign seeks to protect the rights of those North Carolina citizens and residents who are facing housing hardships ranging from homelessness to eviction during the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of the indefinite nature of the impacts that this pandemic will have on individuals and communities across the state, this coalition of organizations, activists, and allies continue to push for equity as citizens across the state, nation, and world grapple with the realities this unprecedented time. On April 23, 2020, The #NeedAHome2StayAtHome Campaign presented North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper with a letter insisting that he issue an executive order to protect the health and safety of all residents. That letter, which includes a list of demands, can be found here in its entirety. In addition to the letter, he was also presented with an online petition which has garnered over 2,000 signatures. That petition can be found here in its entirety. This letter is intended to serve as a second touch following our virtual press conference on April 3, 2020.
