MORNING MELEE: A young man was picking up his friend on the way to school when he crossed paths with his mother’s ex-boyfriend, who lives on the same street. Apparently there’s bad blood between the two men, because the ex-boyfriend stopped his car, retrieved some kind of tool from the trunk, and threatened to shoot up the other man’s house. At about this time, the raging man’s mother came along and pulled her son back into their house. A few minutes later, however, he reappeared, now armed with a shotgun, which he fired into the air. The incident was reported to both school officials and the police.

IDENTITY THEFT: In the past few weeks there were three separate incidents of crooks using someone else’s identity to make fraudulent purchases. In one case, someone used a man’s check card number to make purchases totaling about $50 at two different locations. The second case involved an Indiana man who, after reviewing a copy of his credit report, discovered someone in Charlotte used his name and identity to get a car loan. In the most brazen case, several suspects used another man’s name and social security number to obtain a lease at a Charlotte apartment complex.

DOGGONE CROOKS: A woman reported that someone broke out the side window and pried the back door of her home in an attempt to gain entry. She believes the would-be thieves were after her four pit bull puppies, which she keeps in a cage in one of her bedrooms. One of the woman’s neighbors recently had a dog stolen from her house, and she believes the culprit is someone who lives close by.

HALL MONITOR HIGHJINKS: After confronting a fellow student about being in the hall without a pass, a high school hall monitor got into a fight at a Charlotte high school. Apparently the hall monitor got the worst of it, suffering minor scratches while the other student received no injuries.

PARENTAL DISHARMONY: A woman reported that her estranged babyís-daddy entered her residence and tried to forcibly take their child. When she refused, the pissed-off patriarch pushed her, pulled her hair, and threw her to the ground. The child was unharmed, and the woman plans to file charges.
