Our Democrat neighbors to the south head to the polls Saturday to vote on the party’s nominee. S.C. Republicans have already made their choice.
In order to vote, South Carolina law requires one must first register to vote at least 30 days prior to the election.
Voters will be required to show any one of three forms of identification in order to vote: a voter registration card, driver’s license, or a picture ID issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
S.C. law prohibits voters from voting in more than one party’s presidential primary.
Of all registered S.C. voters, 28 percent are nonwhite.
S.C. Democrats routinely receive 95 percent of black votes cast.
Of registered N.C voters, 61.4 percent cast ballots in the 2004 presidential election. 63.2 percent of registered S.C. voters did. 63.8 percent of registered voters nationwide did.
Minnesota had the highest participation, with 79.2 percent. Hawaii had the lowest, with 50.8 percent while Tennessee had the lowest participation in the continental United States with 54.6 percent.
