Alvvays, Absolutely Free, Late Bloomer
First things first — it’s pronounced like “always.” This Canadian indie-pop quintet hit No. 1 on the college charts earlier this fall thanks to the strength of its jingle-jangle single, “Archie, Marry Me.” Don’t view them as a one-hit wonder though, as the strength of the band’s self-titled debut, released in July of this year, extends from front to back within its R.E.M.-esque lo-fi qualities.
