You wouldn't really expect the son of David Cronenberg, the director of Rabid, Naked Lunch and Spider, to make his own debut with a musical or a slapstick comedy, and you'd be right. Brandon Cronenberg inaugurates his own career with the Back Alley Film Series offering Antiviral, a sci-fi thriller starring Caleb Landry Jones (X-Men: First Class’s Banshee) as Syd March, an employee at a lab that harvests the viruses of ill celebrities to sell to overzealous fans. When Syd becomes infected with the disease that’s weakening superstar Hannah Geist (Sarah Gadon), he must find a way to cure himself while also avoiding the groupies and black marketeers who now view him as a valuable commodity.
