ATLAS ROAD CREW
Drawing its moniker from the locale of a storage unit they use as practice space in Cola, S.C., the Atlas Road Crew is a quintet of young rockers exploring their love of ’70s rock. They’ve solidified their sound by playing covers at gigs over a couple of years and released an EP of original material a few months back. It’s a worthy if uneven effort that hints at the band’s potential, while they’re clearly having a ball playing the music they dig. Don’t stroll into the club expecting fireworks, but they do know their way around classic and Southern rock. The combo’s guitar-driven rock breaks no new ground, nor does it pretend to, but that’s fine. The band’s musical chops are clean and inspired, without sacrificing the music’s soul.
