'Celebration of Life': Honoring Charlotte LGBT leader Don King
When a local LGBT activist and journalist like Don King dies (he passed away on Oct. 30), the community comes together to honor his life. King began speaking about gay rights in Charlotte during the ’70s and went on to work for QNotes and The Charlotte Observer, where he provided a much-needed voice. The event will feature speakers who King worked with and music from the Gay Men’s Chorus of Charlotte. (Anita Overcash)
