It's been a while since Charlotte-area theater troupe Citizens of the Universe — known for edgy stagings of Marx in SoHo, Gonzo: A Brutal Chrysalis, Fight Club and Trainspotting, among others — spit out a production, but just in time for Valentine's Day, they're back in the game. COTU founder James Cartee has adapted Michel Gondry's beautifully unsettling 2004 flick, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Recall that the plot shuffles between the euphoria of falling in love and agony of falling out, but it hits hysteria when a procedure to erase memories (and thus, any lingering heartache) unravels. Colby Davis plays Joel and Megan York takes the role of Clementine in a low-budget take on the popular film. Staged in the intimate setting of Wine Up, a special Valentine's dinner and drink packages are available. For more information, visit www.citizensoftheuniverse.org.
