Mel Chin: Recap

As a conceptual artist, Mel Chin looks to cultural, social, political and global issues for influence. Take, for example, the issue of lead-contaminated soil in New Orleans. His ongoing, artist-driven project Operation Paydirt/Fundred Dollar Bill Project is helping to raise money to help clean up NOLA’s dirt. But Chin’s into more than just landscape. Following Chin’s recent residency as a Knight Artist-in-Residence at McColl Center for Visual Art (from September 2012 through March 2013), his studio is teeming with sculptures, videos, drawings, collages, paintings and other works to showcase during the Recap: Mel Chin exhibit.
