When a gang of youths went on strike in 1899 against newspaper giants — owned by Joseph Pulitzer and William Hearst — over their meager compensation as newsboys, they not only received more money but also made history. This Broadway musical, based on the history and a movie, highlights the glorious triumph with song and dance. It also won the 2012 Tony Award for Best Score and Best Choreography. (Anita Overcash)
