Purses, Platforms and Power

This lecture celebrates the rise of female leadership in Charlotte during the 1970s and 1980s. It honors ladies who pushed for power, including Betty Chafin Rash, the first woman elected for City Council, and Bea Thompson, the first African-American female TV anchor in Charlotte. Slides from the 2005 exhibit, Purses, Platforms & Power, will also be shown.
