Spirit Caravan, Pilgrim
The slow-bubbling doom is back. The band, led by doom-metal catalyst and legend Scott “Wino” Weinrich (guitar, vocals) and rounded out by Gary Isom (drums) and Dave Sherman (bass), features veteran purveyors in the Sabbath-y, stoner-metal underground. It’s been over a decade since the band’s last release, Last Embrace, and there’s no word on any new material as of yet. Weinrich played with beloved bands of yore, the Obsessed and Saint Vitus, among other projects, and Spirit Caravan has that killer psychedelia-teased blues layer that the trio expands into heaviness, checking all rock star pretensions at the door.
