It took 60-year-old Tommy Castro a while to find his own path, having played in cover bands and other outfits for years before going solo — but it was worth the wait. Castro is one of those rock-infused blues artists whose best work is done slinging the guitar for all its worth. This isn’t the old-school, sad blues; this is the “get up, get moving and let those six strings sing” kind. (Jeff Hahne)
