Just imagining Queen City Theatre Companys upcoming performances of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rices rock opera, Evita, my head buzzes with the catchy sensation: Dont cry for me Argentina. If youre anything like me, youre probably singing it already. Based on the story of Eva Perón the first lady of Argentina who was surprisingly adored, loathed and feared during a time period when power and women didnt typically go hand in hand, this classic is a must-see. Under the direction of QCTCs Glenn T. Griffin, the musical (being performed at Duke Energy Theatre, April 29- May 16) will include a mix of songs, ranging in genres such as Latin, pop, tango and jazz. Some will be sung in Spanish, and as an extra feature, the popular tune You Must Love Me (from the film version of Evita with Madonna) is being incorporated into the musical. Ahhh, Im singing again!
