... and I-rish I hadnt drunk so much while celebrating St. Patricks Day this past weekend. Although comparatively, I was practically sober.
It may have rained on our parade literally, the parade was postponed until this weekend but Rich and Bennetts 8th Annual St. Patrick's Day Pub Crawl marched on. Said pub crawl is the largest in the U.S. like, officially. More than 4,000 people come in from all over the country, as far as San Francisco, to crawl through the streets of Charlotte. The crawl is so massive in fact, the Travel Channel filmed it for their new show "Extreme." This pub crawl has made Charlotte a tourist destination. All hail Rich&Bennett.
But Im pretty sure the producers thought they were filming Charlotteans Gone Wild in some of the interviews. I overheard one interview where the guy was talking in a foreign language known as drunk babble, and some girl in dire need of attention wanted to be on camera so bad she pulled up her shirt and shouted, They always be after me Lucky Charms! Not very lady like of the lush.
Pictured was the view from DJ Mayors booth of Buckhead Saloon at 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon... it was so crowded it was one in, one out and the line for the ladies room was so long the attendants offered a pass to the front of the line for $3. Considering how long all the broken seals in there were holding their pee, it was a bargain.
What is up with a noon game on a weekday? Im sure all the VT and UNC fans throughout Charlotte are going to be real productive at work tomorrow. Two words for you: long lunch. Or fuck it, its Friday and game day, just take half a day. Its like an unsaid Tarheel holiday, after all.
I know so much about college basketball that when I met Sean May the year after he helped UNC win the National Championship, I asked him which school he went to. But I do know that VT and UNC both have to win three games in order to win the ACC tournament.
I had tickets to VT vs. Miami game in Atlanta on Thursday, but instead I went up to the lake to watch the game during the live broadcast of WFNZs Frank & Buck at the LKN Sports Grille.
Places to go to lunch to watch the game...
Chima (pronounced Chi-ma, not Chime-a as I stood, or spoke rather, corrected).
Ive been to Chima twice and it wasnt to eat the delicacy that is Brazilian meat shaved right off the bone... It was to party. As it turns out, Chima isnt just a place to fine dine, its a fine place to wine. Last night I went for the ELEVATE Magazines Best Of party.
They had a signature shot called the Shaved Beaver considering its a Brazilian restaurant shouldnt it be referred to as the Brazilian Waxed Beaver?
Breaking news in the world of nightlife there's a new club opening up.
The ugly coyotes were run out of town by the LUNA ... tics. (Dont think too much into that, its merely a play on words)
The opening date has not yet been confirmed, but LUNA Lounge is opening sometime in the near future in the old Coyote Ugly building in Uptown.
Word on the street is it will have a glassed in patio and a cabana style rooftop patio. The color scheme and decor is similar to that of the Sunset Club before they remodeled, with the russet oranges, dark reds and rich browns. Which pretty much makes it a Virginia Tech bar by school color default, no?
Theyll have sectional VIP seating similar to that in KISS Lounge and will be serving a Tapas style menu. Thursday nights will be college night (mash ups, top 40, mainstream), Fridays will be designated for Tec House (Electronica and house music) and Saturdays will be Loca Luna International Nights.
Stay tuned for the opening date and chances to win tickets to the grand opening party!
I permanently reside in la la land... But I did just get back from L.A.
Our first night there, my friend's car got towed from my hotel in Hollywood and we had to venture into Compton in order to retrieve it. As the GPS on my rental car said in her British accent, turn left on South Central Avenue, I wondered why it wasnt asking, Are you sure you want to turn left on South Central?
Between that, and driving between Santa Monica, Hermosa Beach, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, West Wood and Laguna Beach, I got the full LA experience... as in, I spent most of my time there in the car. After I yelled at my GPS to shut the front door because it kept repeating for me to take a left when I couldnt, I decided to just drive on the coast so I could at least enjoy the view.
I mostly enjoyed my afternoons on the beach, but everything gets hotter when the sun goes down. We went to the club Foxtail for some dude from Twilights birthday party (I honestly cant tell you whos, because I honestly just dont care).
But I assumed the actress in the movie that got busted smoking weed was there considering people were openly smoking in the club considering its practically legal in Cali. Its so prevalent in fact, In San Francisco the homeless people dont beg for money, they offer to sell you pot.
For Fat Tuesday last week, I felt like being a fat ass... So, I went to Fat Boys in Moorseville and really put the fat in Fat Tuesday.
Some of my boys up at the lake told me about this buffet, with a bar... A Buffet-Bar?!?? Really? I thought that combination sounded more like drinking beer before liquor (never sicker) than going together like peas and carrots. Out of curiosity, and some slight disbelief, I requested they take me and there is in fact a buffet inside a bar up in Moorseville. Dinner and drinks, anyone?
It took me 45 minutes to go a mere few blocks from the gym to my house because of CIAA traffic. Hence the reason I jumped on the opportunity to attend the NFL Celebrity Bash at Extravaganza Depot. Celebs aside, I was excited about the fact I could divert the traffic headed into Uptown, park my car a few feet from the entrance, and mosey my ass right on into the party with no clusterfuck.
I was there at 10:30 p.m. and was informed I was early. But I made good use of the dance floor nonetheless. Extravaganza is an ideal location to throw a party between the ballroom-sized dance floor, 10 bartenders to every bar, easy access parking and a train car for a smoker's lounge.
With no hassle or hustle, I just pulled up and parked at the official ESCU, NC A&T and NCCU Alumni Party hosted by Chris Hope of the Titans, Santana Moss of the Redskins, Vontae Leach of the Texans, Brandon Newton of the Raiders, William Hayes of the Titans, Giradie Mercer of the Eagles, Troy Pelshack of the Rams and Chris Harris of the Panthers... I feel like I just listed the roster at the Pro Bowl or something.
