The Alegria Shoes brand is really making a name for itself in the Ballantyne area. Runner up for the Triad’s Best 2016 award, this family-owned shoe store is a local favorite and a scrub wear boutique that out-of-towners must stop into when traveling in the Triad area. Alegria Cherokee Store is a sister store to Scrubwagon and Alegria Shoe Shop, located in Winston-Salem, NC and owned by Eric Johnson.
Scrubwagon began selling these funky, colorful, comfort shoes in April 2009. This comfort brand offers a removable, memory foam footbed, mild rocker outsole to encourage proper posture, and buckles and/or hook and loop straps for maximum adjustability. The demand was high and hospital staff in Charlotte and the surrounding areas were obsessed with this new brand of orthopedic shoes made for standing long hours and the promise of ‘happy feet’ and less stress on the feet and legs. So, in a matter of months, a Charlotte Alegria Shoe Shop was born and it was called Alegria Cherokee store. This new store would jointly carry medical scrubs, accessories, and of course, Alegria Shoes. One stop shop!
Located in Stonecrest Shopping Center near Target, Ballantyne welcomed the Alegria Cherokee Store in 2010. This is a thriving store full of employees that really want to help you feel your best and look your best when you head to your new job, vacation spot, or just around your home to help with your aching feet and legs.
Selling thousands of pairs of shoes and outfitting hundreds of local offices with medical scrubs seems to be their niche and boy are they rock stars! Not only did the word spread to nurses, but now hairdressers, teachers, retail associates, dental hygienists, etc are in love with this brand.
