Dr. Gawande is a general and endocrine surgeon at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston and a professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School and professor at the Harvard School of Public Health. He also serves as lead advisor for the World Health Organization's Safe Surgery Saves Lives program and is the founding chairman of Lifebox, an international not-for-profit implementing systems and technologies to reduce surgical deaths globally.
