The Vienna Court of Ferdinand II of Hapsburg The court of Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand II (r. 1619-37) was the center of a rich music culture. Works from the imperial court were the earliest to incorporate Italian innovations. Experience the dramatic and melodic inventiveness of this new-old music in both vocal and instrumental works.
